Pokemon Go, the hit AR-based mobile game set in the multi-billion dollar Pokemon franchise, got an update a few days ago.

Normally, routine updates aim to fix some bugs or pending issues. For instance, recently, players have reported situations like being unable to connect the game to Pokemon Home.

But it seems that the latest update brought an unexpected additional issue. More specifically, multiple Pokemon Go players are currently experiencing a ‘white or blank screen’ during gameplay.

Pokemon Go ‘white or blank screen’ bug after v267.1 update

According to recent reports, in the last few days the game has been suddenly freezing on a white or blank screen. The problem can occur in multiple situations randomly.

For example, the white or blank screen has appeared while players scroll through menus or after finishing a battle. The only thing players can do to play again is to restart the app.

Game breaking bug please help

Hey, I have this bug which started today, where anytime I open the friends list a second time that session, the list is off my screen and I can’t do anything. Also in raids, if I die it just had a white screen, beating a team rocket member gives me a plain gray screen. Wtf? Just started today and it’s unplayable.

Bug/Error resolution request

After beating a Team Go Rocket grunt or leader, instead of going to the “You win!” screen, I just get this white/black gradient screen and I can’t do anything on it, and when I press my phone’s “Back” button I just get a prompt to exit the game.

The Niantic team is already aware of the issue and investigating, but there is no ETA for a fix yet. They also confirmed that it all started after the latest Pokemon Go v267.1 update.

Hello there, Trainer! We’re investigating similar reports with the white/ gray screen issues during gameplay. Meanwhile, try changing your avatar pose to the default pose & see if it resolves. Also, please stay tuned here (http://bit.ly/417UGOl) for more updates. Thanks! ^SH

However, in the meantime they recommended changing the avatar pose to the default one as a potential workaround.

A player confirmed that the above workaround was effective. Alternatively, another player suggested that changing your avatar’s gender to the opposite might also help.

We will update this story as events unfold in the future.
