New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 13, 2022) follows:

Apple introduced Face ID with iPhone X which was released back in 2017 and since then all iPhones feature this mode of authentication. Prior to that, Apple offered touch ID for securely locking iPhones.

With advanced technologies and a TrueDepth camera system, Face ID provides an intuitive and the most secure authentication that you won’t see even in the top-end Android flagships.

However, Android OEMs nourish their smartphones with more than one mode of authentication, while Apple only offers Face ID to lock your iPhone. Of course, it is backed by a passcode.

So, if there is a glitch in Face ID, iPhone users might not be able to unlock their iPhones conveniently and they’ll have to use the passcode every time.

iPhone Face ID not working after iOS 16.0.3 update

Not long ago, some iPhone users were reporting an issue with Face ID on iOS 15.6, and it seems that a somewhat similar issue is back again. But this time it’s affecting iPhone users running iOS 16.0.2 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Moreover, some users have also confirmed that the glitch even persists with the latest iOS 16.0.3. Below are some reports from those affected (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

@AppleSupport After downloading the new Ios16 on my iphone XS my face ID is not working anymore. Tried to set my phone to factory settings but nothing is working 🙁 (Source)

Users say that Face ID does not recognize them so they can’t unlock their iPhones. Moreover, some even say that when they try to reset it from settings, it shows an error saying that ‘Face ID is not available’.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t yet acknowledged this issue. Also, we haven’t come across any potential workaround that might help you fix this glitch. So, you’ll have to wait up until devs comes up with a definitive fix.

Rest assured, we will follow up on the latest developments regarding the Face ID not working issue on iOS 16.0.3 and inform you if and when we find anything noteworthy.
