Some YouTube users are currently experiencing issues when trying to upload videos to the platform. It appears that the video service is not processing their videos due to an outage.

Do note that this isn’t the first time users have experienced issues while uploading content. We’ve previously an covered issue where the videos stayed stuck on the copyright checks.

YouTube videos stuck on processing will begin shortly

YouTube content creators are confused (1,2,3,4,5) as to why their videos are not being processed even though it finished uploading a while ago. The YouTube Studio dashboard just shows ‘processing will begin shortly’.

The visibility status of the video is also stuck on ‘Pending’ due to this problem.

Affected ones have taken to social media platforms like Twitter to express their frustration. Those with fixed upload schedules are unable to provide content to their audience because of the ongoing service outage.

The problem is not limited to regular videos, some creators are facing the problems even while uploading Shorts content. Some are speculating that YouTube might be experiencing some server issues.

Unfortunately, YouTube has not yet acknowledged the issue where videos are stuck on ‘processing will begin shortly’ for content creators.

We hope they are able to find the root cause behind this problem and fix it at the earliest so creators can go back to uploading videos.

Update 1 (May 18, 2023)

09:38 am (IST): According to the reports, it seems that the issue (1,2,3,4) has popped up again for some users.

Fortunately, Google is aware of this bug and the team is currently working on it. Moreover, it also been added to the ‘Known Issue’ list.

Update 1 (May 19, 2023)

03:48 pm (IST): YouTube support has confirmed that the issue where creators can’t process or publish new uploads has now been resolved.

Update 2 (May 22, 2023)

09:58 am (IST): Although the YouTube support team claimed that the issue was resolved, related reports are still surfacing (1, 2, 3, 4).
