Here’s the thing, YouTube is a massive platform today as it is the world’s most popular video streaming platform.

As such it is the primary source of income for millions of content creators all across the globe. Some sanity is therefore needed to govern such a platform and copyright laws are pretty well enforced to ensure these rights aren’t infringed upon.

As a result of this, every YouTube video is checked for said copyright infringement before it is made public. However, there seems to be an issue with this check process.

According to a number of content creators on YouTube, the copyright check process is taking a lot longer than usual.

Youtube is taking FOREVER on “checks” for copyright restrictions on this video . . .
A video under 10 minutes that literally has no outside video or audio. I’ve been waiting over 30 minutes just for these checks . . . Confused face

The Youtube Copyright Checks process is running very slow tonight, tried uploading my latest video twice tonight and after a long time of waiting, I will have to postpone my video release for tomorrow. I’m frustrated, but some nights technology likes to work against us.

I would love to know why my video is stuck on the checks part?? When there literally is no copyright stuff in the video.

Well, according to users, a routine video upload whose check normally takes at most 10 minutes is taking a lot longer. The same has been demonstrated to afflict blank with no music at all.

This issue has since been brought to the attention of YouTube and the platform through its Twitter support handle acknowledges this, noting that it is being looked into.

Due to its complexity, the process can take longer than expected. Note that we’ve seen similar reports and we’re working on a fix. Appreciate your patience in the meantime.

What remains unclear is what changes have been made on YouTube’s end that are causing these delays but the fact is that this is not sitting well with YouTubers.

Update 1 (Apr. 13, 2023)

06:00 pm (IST): According to a report, some users are once again experiencing delays in the uploading process. They allegedly get stuck in the checking stage, even after deleting and re-uploading the videos.
