Because of its extensive library, Spotify is one of the most popular platforms for listening to songs or podcasts. Album or song artwork is an amazing option for an artist to display their work and aids in user recognition.

Spotify, like any other service, runs into problems and difficulties like ‘display or UI zoomed in‘ on Android TV & Google TV, genre filters broken, lyrics button missing, and so on.

Cover art on Local files not showing

According to reports, there appears to be a problem with the Local files, as users indicate that the artwork does not display or has disappeared (1,2,3,4).

When played online, users claim that the artwork for the songs in the app is visible. However, the album artwork does not appear on the ‘Now Playing’ tab for Local files.

Troubleshooting methods like uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and logging in and out of the account don’t seem to work either.

A community moderator confirmed that there are third-party software that can add cover in the metadata of Local files:

We can confirm that covers can be added to the metadata of your local files. There are different programs that can add covers to metadata; nevertheless, we’re unable to recommend any third-party software ourselves.

Spotify album artwork missing when sharing a song

Some Spotify users report another issue where the artwork disappears when they try to share a song on various social media channels (1,2,3,4,5).

When affected users click on the option to share, a greyed-out backdrop appears instead of the album or song cover used by an artist.

Some users are unable to share their favorite music since the issue makes it unappealing for users to showcase songs on social media platforms.
