YouTube Music was born from the huge interest of YouTube users in music videos. Today, it is one of the most popular music streaming services.

YouTube Music is one of the services that got a recap at the end of 2022, although it wasn’t working for everyone. Its recent Library redesign also caused user complaints.

Now, YouTube Music users are reporting an ‘automatic shuffle glitch’ where their downloads are not playing in their preferred order after a recent update.

YouTube Music automatic shuffle bug in playlists (music playing out of order)

Many people like to manually sort the order of songs in their playlists. In this way, they can configure in detail what they will hear in each playlist.

However, multiple reports indicate that playlists are now in a ‘permanent shuffle’ state, randomly playing songs in no particular order.

Some users are dealing with an additional glitch where activating the shuffle option while casting the music will cause the songs to restart after a few seconds.

Unfortunately, there is still no official word from the YouTube Music team on this issue. So, affected users will have to make do with randomly playing songs in their playlists until a fix arrives.

Android users may also try uninstalling the new update and re-install an older version of the app and see if this solves the issue temporarily.

We will update this story as events unfold in the future.
