Instagram location services reportedly not working for a section of users

Instagram is a name that needs no introduction. Millions of people access the platform daily to share and view photos and videos as well as communicate via direct messages with others.

We have previously covered some issues reported about the platform. For instance, DMs getting stuck or not sending, 2FA system not working or occasional outages.

Instagram allows you to tag or add your location in posts. However, it seems that currently, Instagram location services are not working for some users.

According to reports, a section of Instagram users are unable to tag their location in their posts, which indicates problems with the social network’s location services (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Apparently, affected users only get a ‘No Results’ error message on the location selection screen. The error appears both in the location automatic detection and in the manual search.

I’m at my wits end and it seems impossible to contact Meta support about this. I am trying to add a location to my posts like I always have, but when I go to add one it says “No results” no matter if I type in something or not.

I’m guessing this is a problem on instagram’s side because I have the exact same issue and whether I post from the Instagram app on my phone or from my laptop, it doesn’t give me results for location when I try and search for it.

Another Redditor reports having problems even with location names, receiving typos in automatically detected location names.
