Apple’s speech assistant for iOS, Siri provides a number of options that helps users complete common chores using only their voice.

It also provides one of the strongest intelligent assistants’ privacy protection. However, it is not always immune to various bugs and issues.

For instance, we previously saw how it briefly stopped working along with Dictation after the iOS 16 update.

Multiple iOS devices responding to ‘Hey Siri’

Some users (1,2,3,4,5) are now reporting an issue where multiple iOS devices including HomePod, iPhone & iPad are responding to ‘Hey Siri’ simultaneously.

Hey siri on iphone pops up when talking to homepod
Anyone else getting the same thing? It used to be the phone would realise i was speaking to the homepod automatically but now iphone siri just butts in and speaks over homepod siri.

It’s seemingly a matter of confusion as claimed by users with multiple devices. For instance, if one of the Homepod pairs has already heard and carried out the command, the other pair keeps attempting to do so as well.

Some users have even attempted to repeatedly reset their internet connections but to no avail. This is incredibly frustrating because it is also forcing some users to turn off Siri on iPhones.

However, it’s been claimed by a user that some networked devices sort out such issues depending on the command’s clarity or loudness and execute it accordingly.

We have come across a workaround that can help fix the issue. It involves rebooting the devices.

Mine was doing this a lot recently too then I rebooted my Apple TV and then the HomePod and now seems to be fine – try that

Do note that the workaround mentioned above might be a quick fix for all gadgets including the Mac, HomePod, iPhone, and Apple Watch.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t commented on the issue so users will have to wait indefinitely for the team to come up with a permanent fix.

We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article to reflect noteworthy information.
