New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 06, 2022) follows:

In order to have full functionality, nearly all smartwatches need proper syncing with the respective devices. Likewise, Fitbit collects the data from your devices with the help of a syncing process.

In that way, it tracks your progress, sees how you slept, helps you set goals and more in the Fitbit app.

However, it becomes quite an issue when Fitbit fails to do that. For instance, we previously highlighted how Pixel Watch wasn’t syncing with the Fitbit app.

Some Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold users (1,2,3,4,5) are now having trouble syncing their phones with Fitbit Charge 5 after the Android 13 update.

@FitbitSupport is there an ETA for a fix on the Android 13 update issue for Samsung Flip phones? Unable to synch charge 5 for days now. @SamsungUK any ideas? #Fitbit #Android13

@FitbitSupport My charge 5 has not been able to sync with my Galaxy Fold 4 running android 13 in over 24 hours. And after resetting the Fitbit and redownloading the app, it won’t even connect to my phone at all.

Reports suggest that the syncing process on Fitbit Charge 5 stops abruptly on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip devices. While other smartphone users are able to sync their wearables perfectly fine.

Affected users have tried resetting Fitbit to factory defaults but to no avail. Clearing the Fitbit app cache and data also doesn’t seem to help fix the issue.

Possible explanation

One of the affected users on the Fitbit community forum claims that the issue is probably due to the Samsung software flaw in the Android 13 Bluetooth stack.

On the other hand, a Redditor reached out to Fitbit support and got to know that Charge 5’s new v20001.188.58 firmware update will help eliminate the syncing issues.

It has alos been alleged by a Fitbit Support say they are currently releasing out a new firmware update for Fitbit Charge 5 version 20001.188.58 which should help eliminate the syncing issues. Although I’m awaiting for the update.

So, those affected can wait for Fitbit to roll out the update in order to successfully complete the syncing process.

No official acknowledgment

So far, neither Samsung nor Fitbit has officially commented on the syncing issue.

There’s also no workaround that can help fix the issue temporarily so users will have to wait indefinitely for either of the teams to come up with a permanent fix.

That said, we’ll keep tabs on the issue and update this story to reflect noteworthy developments.

Update 3 (December 29, 2022)

01:12 pm (IST): Some Fitbit Luxe users are also reporting (1, 2, 3, 4) the issue where they are unable to sync the device to their Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones.

Fortunatley, a Fitbit moderator has acknowledged this bug and said that they’ll release a fix for the same in early 2023.

Our team has identified the root cause of the bug and we are working on a fix, which we anticipate releasing via an app update in early 2023.

In the meantime, if you have access to another mobile device (borrowed, old device, etc) where you can install the Fitbit app (min Apple iOS 14 and higher or Android 8 or higher) try syncing/setting up your Luxe. (Source)
