Discord, the popular messaging, voice and video calls service, is full of features and options for both new and experienced users.
Discord devs also tend to submit new features or tweaks constantly. However, the new additions are not always welcome (1, 2).
Now, Discord mobile app users are requesting an option to disable the annoying reply pings or notifications by default.
Discord users (mobile app) want to disable reply pings or notifications by default
Discord notifications are some of the most customizable among all messaging services. However, some users feel that they still need more options.
For instance, currently several Discord users are looking to permanently disable the pings or notifications for direct responses to messages on a server.
Turn off reply notifications
Is there any way to disable notifications when someone quote replies your message? It gets really frustrating especially when messaging back and forth with a friend, and you think they’ve replied but it’s just some useless reply to an old message you typed in another server.

I wish there was a way to turn off reply pings :/
Before Discord implemented replies, I was able to keep my notifications to a minimum. Usually, pings were only when a friend was DMing me, someone needed my attention, or someone was being annoying. Now, I get pinged for the most small things.

For those who don’t know, a while ago you couldn’t respond by quoting a specific comment on a Discord server. The arrival of direct responses to comments indirectly caused the problem.
When users receive a direct response to a message or comment on a server, they also receive a notification or ping. But some users prefer not to receive any kind of notification for these responses.
Currently you can only disable the ping for each response
What annoys users the most about it is that the option is enabled by default. Currently, it is only possible to disable ping for a particular response after receiving the notification.
It can be frustrating to receive a useless notification when you’re waiting for an important reply, or have your device flooded with notifications if multiple users reply to a particular comment.
There is still no official word from the Discord team on user complaints. We will update this story once relevant developments emerge in the future.
