[Updated] Amazon checkout not working or loading? You're not alone

Amazon is one of the largest online commercial platforms in the world. Millions of users access it every day to make purchases of practically all kinds of products.

To facilitate its use, you can access the entire Amazon catalog both from its website and from dedicated apps for mobile devices. The platform also offers some useful options like favorite lists, price comparison, etc.

However, currently many potential buyers are experiencing an issue where they are unable to complete the checkout process and place their order on Amazon.

According to multiple reports, the Amazon checkout process is not loading after clicking or tapping on ‘Proceed to checkout’ (after the section where buyers choose the shipping address).

Looks like Amazon checkout flow is broken, wondering how much money per minute they are losing, feel sorry for anyone on call dealing with that right now.. not sure why a deployment would also happen so late.

@amazon iOS app won’t let me check out. I click “Proceed to checkout”, screen flashes, and it takes me right back to where I was. My partner has the same issue in her iPhone. Is your shopping cart service down?

The problem is affecting both the Amazon website and the app. So, it seems to be a general issue on the server side of the company.

Of course, the situation can be quite dire considering the potential millions of dollars in sales that can be lost while the checkout process continues to malfunction.

12:13 pm (IST): Some Amazon users are now reporting (1, 2, 3) that the recent issue with checkout has now been resolved. Also, the support team on Twitter has confirmed the same.

05:53 pm (IST): Fresh reports on Twitter suggest that Amazon checkout is currently down or not working for some users. The outage is primarily affecting users in the UK.

08:15 pm (IST): Fresh reports indicate that the issue is actually affecting users in various regions including the US, as highlighted by Downdetector too.

Amazon support responded to a user’s complaint by telling them they’ll pass on the info to the concerned team.

09:50 am (IST): Diminished reports on Downdetector now suggest that the issue with checkout has now been resolved.

01:03 pm (IST): Some users reported payment issues on Amazon due to ‘heavy traffic’ (1, 2). However, the Amazon support team claimed that everything is working fine from their side.
