New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 15, 2022) follows:

After acquiring Nest in 2014, Google has released several Nest-branded smart home products that include speakers, displays, thermostats and streaming devices.

That being said, several bugs and glitches such as white noise on Google Nest sounding low or muffled and some users not receiving password reset emails have affected many.

And now, some owners of Google Nest smart speakers and displays are reporting (1,2,3) that the devices are not playing YouTube music songs when using the ‘play music’ voice command.

Reports suggest that Assistant replies with “I looked for (name of song/music) on YouTube, but it either isn’t available or cannot be played right now” error message.

Some say they tried uninstalling the Google Home and YouTube Music app, resetting their devices and reinstalling the aforementioned apps but nothing seems to help.

2 days ago, when asking for a specific song, my Google Nest has started saying “it either isn’t available or can’t be played right now” when it was available last week. For example “Hey Google, play Coldplay Clocks” – ” I looked for Coldplay Clocks but it either isn’t available or can’t be played right now” Then “He Goole, play Coldplay” “Here is some music by Coldplay” and it plays “Clocks”!This happens with EVERY specific song but not YouTube playlists, radio stations or asking for the artist?

So this has been happening for a few days now, where I ask my google home or google hub to play music. I am connected to all my accounts correctly as I have checked and I have rebooted several times. Google assistant comes back and says, “I looked for (name of song/music) on YouTube, but it either isn’t available or cannot be played right now.” The only way I can get music to play now, is if I load YouTube Music on my mobile device and cast it to the Home or Hub device…Anyone come across this? If you have, did you get to fix it? And if you got it to be fixed, how?
