Used by millions worldwide, Roku offers powerful feature-packed media streaming devices at an affordable price. It lets its viewers enjoy their favorite movies and TV shows from different streaming services.
However, it’s not new for certain channels/apps to experience issues on Roku devices every now and then.
For instance, The CW app recently started crashing for many Roku users. The issue was soon acknowledged by the developers.
Acorn TV ‘Resume’ function not working on Roku
Roku users are currently facing an issue where they are unable to resume episodes on Acorn TV.

Is anyone having trouble with the @AcornTV app on @Roku ?? Over the past month, if I’m not able to finish an episode and turn off the device, the episode will re-start. Regardless if I choose ‘resume’. If I use the app on my phone it’s fine.

Many are frustrated as they cannot resume their favorite content from where they left off. Instead, the movie/episode starts playing from the beginning.
Affected users have even tried reinstalling the Acorn TV app and restarting Roku but to no avail.
Potential workaround
There is no acknowledgment of the issue yet but a Roku employee believes that the problem is likely associated with the Acorn TV channel.

Another employee has suggested removing the Acorn TV channel from the Roku home screen as a temporary workaround.
We would recommend removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote, and choosing ‘Remove channel’. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.
