Functioning similar to the Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV, Roku devices allow users to watch content from various streaming services and apps like Netflix, HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video.
However, recent reports from multiple users of The CW app suggest that it is crashing and not loading on Roku devices (1,2,3,4,5).
The CW app crashing or not loading on Roku
Every time users launch The CW channel on Roku, it starts loading for a few seconds and then takes them back to the home screen.
However, all other apps seem to be working just fine which has left users of The CW app frustrated as they are unable to watch their favorite shows on their Roku devices.
@RokuSupport, why is @TheCW app not working on my Roku TV? I go to click on it and it goes on the screen for less than a second, than back to my Home Screen. I deleted and reinstalled the app, but still the same thing.

@TheCW Excuse me, but the app of the streaming won’t work at all, but to kick me off right away. ( I unplugged my TV, upgrade it, and deleted it to get it back all new. And it still is doing the same thing, please have it fix for me and others can watch on there. Thank you.

Many tried troubleshooting options such as unplugging the TV, removing the app, and then downloading it again but none of them seems to work.
It’s unclear why The CW app suddenly started crashing on Roku but many speculate it’s due to a recent update. We hope a patch to fix the issue comes out soon.
Issue acknowledged
Fortunately, The CW support has acknowledged the app crashing or not loading issue on Roku. However, they did not share any timeframe of when it will be fixed.
