[Update: Viewers too] YouTube video timestamps, chapters not working or disappearing for some creators
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on July 25, 2022) follows:
YouTube being everyone’s go-to video-streaming channel, boasts 2.6 billion users on a monthly basis as well as 500 hours worth of new material being uploaded every minute.
The platform is far from perfect with YouTube users complaining about bugs such as the autoplay function automatically turning on for some and drag and drop to change videos order not working on the website.
YouTube video timestamps not working
And now it seems that some content creators are experiencing an issue with timestamps not working or disappearing from videos uploaded on YouTube (1,2,3,4,5).
Timestamps are not working on my videos.
Am sure I did everything right and saw a lot of people facing this issue, how can I fix this?
I’ve tried making chapters on like 10 of my videos, and none have worked. I have no copyright strikes, my content isn’t inappropriate, i have 3 chapters and they are atleast 10 seconds, and yet it isnt working. Here is one of the videos i tried adding them.
Hello I have a problem with chapters in my films, they are not visible. I placed timestamps but they do not display on the movie. Everything was fine until one day they disappeared from all the movies.
This issue has been troubling creators for months now, as there have been similar reports dating back towards the end of May. Unfortunately, there’s no acknowledgment from YouTube.
We will be keeping an eye on it and update this article if and when YouTube acknowledges the issue and fixes it for good.
In the meantime, make sure you check out our YouTube bugs and issues tracker to see similar problems affecting users.
