New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on June 02, 2022) follows:

The Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup arrived in February of this year. The family of devices is made up of the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

As expected, these flagship phones integrate the latest technologies and developments from Samsung Mobile. However, they have not been without problems since their release.

Currently, some Samsung Galaxy S22 series users are experiencing an annoying ‘slow charging speed’ issue. However, there are some workarounds for that.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series charging slow for some users

According to multiple reports, Galaxy S22 series users are experiencing excessive battery charging times.

In some cases, a full S22 Plus charge takes up to 3 hours, even using an official Samsung 45W charger.

Galaxy S22+ Slow Charging Speed

I got myself a S22+ last week, but finding the charging speed not per exepctation.

Using 45W Samsung charger, its taking ~3 hours for a full charge.

As I’m typing this, I tested the current charge speed keeping phone in switched off mode. In 10 minutes it has charged from 40% to 46%.

How is other’s experience, seems quite worse when online articles suggest near 1 hour for full charge.

The issue appears to affect all models in the Galaxy S22 lineup. There are similar reports for both the Galaxy S22 Plus (very similar to the vanilla S22) and the S22 Ultra (which supports higher charging power).

Samsung S22 Ultra charging speed way slower than it says

I have a 45W charging brick and when I plug it in it says “Super fast charging” and then gives me an apparent time it’ll take for it to be fully charged, I did some calculations and it’s telling me it charges at about 2% per minute, which would be insane.

Now, the problem is that it’s actually not the truth. It’s way slower. In 10 minutes it goes up by like 4%. I’ve used an app and it says it’s only charging at about 4 Watts?

Some potential workarounds

That said, there are some potential workarounds you can try.

  • -First, make sure that ‘Samsung Thermal Guardian’ feature isn’t limiting the charging speed.
  • -Make sure your device is updated to the latest available software version. Problems of this type could be solved through a patch.
  • -Avoid charging the phone on high temperature environments, which generates throttling in charging power to protect the battery health.
  • -Make sure the cable you are using supports fast charging. In case it is compatible with fast charging, check its integrity by trying another similar cable (or testing the same cable on another device that supports fast charging).
  • -Finally, you can follow the official Samsung troubleshooting steps.
  • There is no official acknowledgment on this issue from Samsung yet. We will update this story once new details emerge on the matter.

    Update 6 (September 29, 2022)

01:38 pm (IST): A Samsung moderator has suggested a workaround that might help you resolve the fast charging issue. You can check it out below.

Please try heading to Settings > Apps > Tap the 3 lines with the downward facing arrow, to the right or ‘Your apps’ > Show systems apps (toggle this on) > OK > Scroll down to ‘USBSettings’ > Force stop > Storage > Clear cache > Clear data, then restart your phone.

If the issue persists following these steps, head to the Samsung Members app > Press and hold on the app icon > Diagnostics > Cable charging, and follow the on screen instructions. Does this test flag any issues? (Source)

    Update 7 (November 15, 2022)

02:17 pm (IST): Many Galaxy S22 Ultra users are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that the super fast charging is not working for them after updating to One UI 5.0. Users say that Super Fast charging switches to ‘Charging’ after some time.

Some users pointed out that while Super Fast charging changes to ‘Charging’, the charging time is the same. However, others say that the charging speed has slightly reduced for them.

Samsung support is asking those affected to report this issue via Samsung Members app.

Please send us an Error report via the Members app by selecting Support > Error reports, as that will best allow us to look into this. ^SG (Source)
