Original story (published on October 1, 2021) follows:

Hulu is one of the most popular and affordable streaming services. With the basic plan starting at just $5.99 per month, you will be able to browse everything Hulu has to offer.

Compared to Netflix that offers unique shows, Hulu focuses on on-demand content, sporting several recently aired TV shows.

If you are looking for something that will help you replace your traditional cable, Hulu might be the service you are looking for.

It is also one of the few paid streaming services that show ads despite charging users a monthly fee. Nonetheless, Hulu also offers an ad-free plan that is priced significantly higher.

As is the case with every streaming service out there, Hulu is also plagued with bugs and issues. You can check out our dedicated Hulu bug tracker here.

A few months ago, we reported that Hulu was having some issues with audio playback after users skipped to the next episode when watching a show.

Fast forward to October, and it looks like the audio bug has reappeared. But this time, Hulu users suggest that the no audio issue is affecting several TV shows.

However, audio seems to be working just fine on commercials. Restarting the show or system doesn’t seem to help either. It looks like there’s something wrong on Hulu’s end.

The Hulu no audio bug is causing a lot of frustration amongst users since they are unable to watch and enjoy their favorite shows.

It’s done it on all the shows I regularly watch on my Mac book. I’ve restarted my computer many times so it isn’t that. It’ll let me watch like an episode with sound then the rest of the day it’ll be mute but all my sound and audio will be on. The audiohelp thing didn’t work

@hulu @hulu_support I’m trying to stream the newest Grey’s Anatomy episode and it’s completely silent… the commercials have sound and other episodes have sound. Please look into this!

What comes as a surprise is that Hulu seems to be already aware of the issue but still hasn’t managed to fix it. The developers have acknowledged the issue once again and said that it is under investigation.

We wonder why Hulu is taking so long to fix such a critical issue since it makes the service unusable for many.

They also did not share any ETA when the issue will be fixed. That being said, we will update the article when Hulu patches the no audio bug.

Update 1 (August 23, 2022)

08:58 pm (IST): Many users have taken to Twitter to report that they can’t hear any audio while watching Bachelorette on Hulu. The problem appears to be affecting multiple platforms including Roku and the website.

Hulu support has confirmed that the team is aware of the problem and are currently investigating it. There’s no ETA for a fix.

We’ve received similar reports and our team is currently investigating this issue. For now, as a possible workaround, you’re welcome to try streaming the episode on http://Hulu.com. Thank you for your patience in the meantime! (Source)

In the meantime, you can try out this tip suggested by an individual as a temporary solution.

Go to settings and change the audio to “English-audio description” kinda weird cause it describes the scenes where nobody is talking but at least you get to hear the rest of it (Source)

Update 2 (August 24, 2022)

10:08 am (IST): Hulu has confirmed that they have resolved the issue where audio is missing from some shows.

Hi, Vincent! To confirm, are you also noticing this on a recording of The Bachelorette or from the video in our streaming library? If the latter, an adjustment was made to help sort things out. We suggest exiting and reentering the stream. We’ll be looking out for your reply! (Source)

Update 3 (April 6, 2023)

01:31 pm (IST): Some Hulu users on iOS are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) an issue where they aren’t getting any audio or sound on shows, live, commercials, and even their previous recordings.

Hulu support has acknowledged this issue and they are currently investigating it. Also, we have come across a potential workaround that might help you fix the problem.

Workaround: Go into your profile , then settings , then turn on data saver instead of best available. That’s what worked for me this morning (Source)

Update 4 (April 25, 2023)

08:52 am (IST): It seems that there are users again experiencing the issue where some shows have no audio. However, uninstalling and reinstalling the app helped to resolve it.
