Call of Duty: Vanguard (also known as COD: Vanguard) arrived last year (2021) as Activision’s latest FPS game set in World War II.

Here we have covered multiple bugs that COD Vanguard players have been facing since its release (1, 2, 3, 4). Although the company has already corrected a set of the issues, there is still work to be done.

Recently the game received its Season 2 battle pass with new content, challenges, items and more. However, it seems that the update also brought an annoying problem that prevents access to online mode.

Following the Season 2 update, COD Vanguard have been getting a ‘Fetching Online profile’ error message causing the game to crash (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13).

Reports related to the matter agree that it all started after the Season 2 update. In addition, the issue is affecting players on Xbox and PC (1, 2).

Hey Sledgehammer, Any Update on fixing the “Fetching Online Profile Crash”

Since the update, this still has not been fixed and I still can’t play this broken game. I am not the only one, this is affecting a lot of players.

You released the patch and pushed back the season 2 because you wanted to fix as much as possible but once again you blew it by breaking it for everyone else.

PC – Fetching Online Profile Crashes Game

Has anyone had an issue when launching the game from Battle.net , the game launches, it connects to online services and then when it gets to the “Fetching Online Profile” it freezes, then crashes and then it comes up with the Scan and Repair dialog box.

Some players report that even uninstalling and reinstalling the game does not help to resolve the COD Vanguard ‘Fetching Online profile’ error. So, there is a possibility that it is a server side error.

Crashing at fetching online profile

Ever since the season two update my game has crashed every time it’s said fetching online profile. I’m on Xbox series s and have uninstalled and reinstalled, double checked that all content packs are installed, and hard restart the console.

The Sledgehammer Games team is already aware of the issue. This is confirmed through their Trello public board where the bugs that the company is working on to resolve are listed.

Update 1 (February 14)

03:47 pm (IST): Sledgehammer team confirmed through their Trello public board that they have released a fix for this issue where game crashes when fetching online profile.

Update 2 (August 9)

10:54 am (IST): Many COD: Warzone players are reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) an issue where they are getting the ‘Fetching Online Profile’ screen after which the game crashes.

Fortunately, Raven Software has acknowledged this issue and they are currently investigating it. However, they didn’t provide any ETA for the fix.

Update 3 (August 17)

05:48 pm (IST): Here’s a workaround for the issue where COD: Warzone is crashing when fetching online profile.

I had this happen before. It ain’t Warzone that’s the issue. It’s Battle Net. Uninstall Warzone, vanguard and black ops CW, uninstall battle net, go to the folder for the program files, remove all folders for the above. Then go to you My Documents and remove the same folders. (Source)
