[Updated] YouTube creators unable to unhide subscriber count or set it to public, fix in the works

Almost a month ago, the YouTube team shared several updates regarding comments and identity abuse-related spam. One such update was to protect creators against impersonation.

Among the changes, which went into effect on July 29, is where YouTube no longer allows channels to hide subscriber counts.

However, this brought a problem for creators who had already hidden their channel subscriber count. They are now struggling to set it as public since this setting has been removed.

And as you’d expect, several creators have now taken to the YouTube community forum to report the issue in the hope that devs shed some light on how to unhide the subscriber count.

Before this update, The Subscribers Count of my channel was hidden by me. Now ,I want to unhide them but there is no option in the creator studio to change that. So kindly help me to overcome this problem

One of those affected had recently created a YouTube channel and decided to hide the count until it got a couple more hundred subscribers.

After some time, when they wanted to unhide the subscriber count on their channel, YouTube had removed the setting for this.

After multiple complaints from discontented creators, YouTube has finally come out to address the issue.

Responding to one creator, the YouTube team confirmed that they are actively investigating the matter regarding the subscriber count issue.

Although a fix has been confirmed to be in the pipes, it’s still unclear when affected YouTube creators will be able to unhide their subscriber count. But we will let you know when it’s resolved.
