[Updated] OnePlus 8 Pro 'black crush' & green screen issue resolved with latest update, enhancements expected in next OTA says support
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on May 6, 2020) follows:
If you are following our coverage on the OnePlus 8 Pro device, then you might already know the green-tint and black crush display issue that has been reported by several users.
The OEM was quick to react to the situation and came up with a response that this issue has been addressed and will be fixed in the coming update.
Later it was brought to light by one of the user reports that the Chinese OEM, OnePlus has stated this green tint or black crush display issue as a hardware related problem and came with a proposition that affected users can go ahead with refund, replacement, or repair option.
However, a new update i.e. OxygenOS 10.5.6 was rolled out which, as per OnePlus, resolved the problem on the OnePlus 8 Pro units. But, the reality was different, because the issue was still prevalent for the OnePlus 8 Pro owners and the latest update has not addressed the issues on the phone.
And going by the comment by one of the users on the official OnePlus community forum reveals that when the user asked about the issues on the OnePlus 8 Pro to which the customer care replied that problem has been addressed in the latest update i.e. OxygenOS 10.5.6.
Furthermore, they also coined these green tint and black crush display issue as “OK” as it depends on the AMOLED screen. And more improvements to improve the resolution will be brought with the next update.
Here is what the comment reads:
I tried to ask to the customer care about the issues and they said that the green screen issue has been resolved with the last update and they will try to improve the resolution with the next update. They also try to say that these issues are ok because depends of the amoled screen ( I answered : are you kidding me?? :)). So we will see if they are able to resolve the issues only with software updates.
Matter of fact, going by one of the user comments in the post, we went ahead to check whether OnePlus 8 Pro is in stock or not. And it turned out that the OnePlus 8 Pro is out of stock.
What this could mean is that the company has acknowledged the severity of this issue, and who knows might be fixing the issue as they have already coined it as a “hardware problem”. We will keep a tab on further developments in this issue and keep you posted.
Update 1 (July 13)
07:10 pm (IST): Many OnePlus 8 Pro and 8T users are now reporting that they are getting a green line on screen after updating to Android 12.
Luckily, OnePlus has allegedly acknowledged the issue and said that they are working to resolve it.
