Mobile phones are inseparable gadgets of our lives. Even while working, we often need to take a quick glance at notifications and messages.

While Apple offers an envious ecosystem to connect iPhone to Mac, Android users still yearn for it.

However, Microsoft introduced a new method to link mobile phones with a Windows PC. You can now connect an Android phone to a Windows 10 or 11 PC wirelessly.

This guide will elaborate on the method to connect both devices. So, you won’t have to glance at your phone while working ever again.

How to link your phone with Windows

Windows 10 and 11 have an inbuilt feature to link to Android phones via the Phone Link app. It works wirelessly, so you don’t have to worry about meddlesome cables.

All you need to do is download the official linking app on your Android phone and pair it with your system.

To connect your Android device to your Windows PC, do as follows:

On Windows:

  • Press Win + I to launch the settings app
  • Navigate to the left-hand side menu and click on the ‘Bluetooth and devices’ option
  • Now, find the ‘Your Phone’ option and open it
  • The app window will open. Click on the ‘Get Started’ button. Sign in to a Microsoft account if you haven’t done it already
  • The next page will inform you to download the ‘Link to Windows’ app on your Android phone.

On Android:

  • Open any browser on your phone and enter the following URL: www.aka.ms/yourpc
  • The URL will redirect you to the Play Store app page for the official app. Click on the Install button. Once it finishes installing, launch the app.

  • Click on the ‘Link your phone and PC’ option in the app. It will reconfirm if you have the QR code ready on your system.

  • Scan the unique QR code from the Windows PC using the in-app scanner on your Android phone and wait for the app to finish pairing.

Now, the Android companion app will ask for permissions to access your contacts, make calls, read messages, and access files.

You can manually set the permissions according to your usage and can select what kind of access you want to grant to the ‘Phone Link’ app.

So that’s how you can link your Android phone to Windows. The Phone Link app is a nifty feature for viewing and managing your Android phone’s content.

You can make calls, view messages and notifications, and do much more. It is still far from perfect but quite usable and it’s one of the best free alternatives to link your Android phone with Windows.

Sadly, iPhone owners who use Windows cannot use the app to link their phones.
