Dying Light 2 players 'unable to climb Juniper & Hickory windmills', issue acknowledged (workaround inside)

As the weeks go by, Dying Light 2 players continue to encounter new issues that negatively impact the gameplay experience.

Some of the issues reported by Dying Light 2 players have been so severe that they could even corrupt save files. Here we have covered many of the bugs that have arisen since its release (1, 2, 3, 4).

In certain cases, issues can prevent players from progressing on certain missions. For instance, currently, many are unable to climb Juniper and Hickory windmills in the world of Dying Light 2 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

At a certain point in Dying Light 2, you will have to climb Juniper and Hickory windmills to continue progressing. However, some players cannot do so.

One of the players affected by the glitch describes the situation as follows:

“juniper” windmill glitched.

In the garrison part of the map the “juniper” windmill is broken for me and i cant get to the top.

It has two bars going up and down so your meant to match them so you can swing from one to the next then swing from there up to a platform however on both bars when i grab on the bar keeps going and aiden just hangs in midair…..

The same player continues the report like this:

I can climb part of the windmill and jump to the higher bar missing out the first bar but then it does the same on that bar and the occasional time it does take me up with the bar i cant swing on it.

I could climb the VNC tower and then fly down from there but its a bit of a pain for the sake of a windmill.

Anyone else had problems?

In some cases, players are able to climb Juniper and Hickory windmills, but the NPCs that should be there never appear.

The Techland team has published an official acknowledgment on the issue where they also reveal that they are already working on a fix. The fix in question will arrive ‘soon’, but there is no exact date for it yet.

Hey Maddie, we’re aware of the issue and we’re gonna fix it soon. If you’re eager to conquer that windmill before we patch it tho, I would advise using a grappling hook or cheesing it with the glider. Sorry for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, the company suggests players use the grappling hook or glider to find alternate paths as a workaround.
