Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 22, 2022) follows:

Developed and published by Techland, Dying Light 2 is the successor to the original Dying Light that was released in 2015. The action RPG title is set 25 years after the events of the first game.

Despite the title being impressive in terms of graphics and combat mechanics, players have termed it as a buggy mess. Issues such as players getting stuck at ‘Black Widow’ quest and ‘Leaving the mission area’ bug have negatively affected the gameplay experience for many.

Having said that, Dying Light 2 players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that they get a ‘Can’t use, enemies nearby’ message.

Many say the issue is making it impossible to play the game since they are not able to open doors or talk to NPCs during quests. Here is what some Dying Light 2 players who are getting the ‘Can’t use, enemies nearby’ message have to say.

I’ve experienced a number of glitches after only having the game for 3 days, the most prominent being enemies glitching out of sight but the game still registering them being close to me this stops me from being able to progress by getting “enemies nearby” message pop up , or another example of when a demolisher disappeared when I turned around however regardless of how far I went or what I climbed and after killing my character I would still get the rumble and screen colour change as if the demolisher was chasing me?

So I have really enjoyed the updates that have been released for DL2 but it seems to have broken a lot of my quest progression. Now when I try to interact with a NPC to continue the quest it keeps showing “Can’t use. Enemies nearby” even after I clear the entire building they are in. It’s also constantly showing the white marker for when an enemy is supposedly nearby but, again, there is nothing there.

As it turns out, Dying Light 2 developers (Techland) have acknowledged the issue and shared a temporary workaround that might help fix the issue for those affected.

It suggests players use AoE (Area of Effect) weapons like molotovs so as to kill enemies stuck in geometry or the elevator.

Our team is tackling the issue. In the meantime, you can try the following workaround:
Try to use AoE (area of effect) weapons, such as molotovs, to kill the enemies that got stuck in the elevator or in geometry.

If this is not working, players can try restarting the game so the enemies re-spawn and are killable.

We hope the developers soon release an update that fixes the problem so players can complete quests normally. If and when they do, we will be updating this article to reflect the same so stay tuned.

Update 1 (April 04)

03:36 pm (IST): According to a Redditor, zombies disappear but they are present and can be heard, which is probably why players get a ‘Can’t use, enemies nearby’ error message.

Update 2 (April 07)

06:41 pm (IST): Here’s a temporary workaround suggested by one of the affected players. So, if you are still facing this issue then you can try and see if it helps.

Workaround:

I’ve had this issue on PS5 like all the time! A fix I’ve found is to go and sleep in a bed but when you’re in a night time area with no beds nearby, it can be really frustrating as you have to back track loads! I also see that enemies dissappear at times but the game still registers them as being nearby but with no way to kill them :disapproval: Hopefully the devs will patch it soon (Source)
