New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 26, 2022) follows:

Fortnite is definitely one of the most enjoyable Battle Royale titles of all time. With millions of daily active players worldwide, the game is here to stay for a while now.

And with Epic Games churning out new content with the recent Chapter 3 Season 2 update, players have new mysteries to unfold and gear to unlock. But unfortunately, the latest update seems to have introduced a bunch of issues.

Many have complained about issues such as the game crashing on PC, unable to use ziplines between wind turbines and FPS drops when running the game on DirectX 12.

Adding to the list, Fortnite players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that the low mesh setting in performance mode is not working. Many say that despite setting the mesh to low quality, it continues to look as if its set to high.

The bug seems to be causing FPS issues for players who use the performance mode to run the game at high frame rate. A bunch of players say they tried editing the MeshQuality in the ‘gameusersettings’ file but it is already set to zero.

The problem seems to have surfaced after the Chapter 3 Season 2 update. Here is what Fortnite players who are unable to set the mesh settings to low have to say.

my fortnite meshes in the fortnite ingame settings say that they are on low but when im in a creative or a match the meshes look like they are on high, ive tried reinstalling the game, switching to direct x 11 and restarting, i tried looking for the mesh setting on the gameusersettings but it already says MeshQuality = 0 so i honestly dont know what to do at this point

Fortunately, Epic Games seems to be aware of the issue where the low mesh settings are not working on PC and have labeled the issue as ‘In Development’ on their Trello board. However, they did not share any ETA on when it will be fixed.

We hope the developers soon find out what is causing the problem and fix it in the coming days since the game is unplayable for those with mid or low-end PCs.

Rest assured, we will be updating this space as and when we come across more information so stay tuned. Also, make sure you check out our Fortnite bug tracker to see similar issues affecting players.

Update 1 (March 31)
