Developed by Techland and published by Techland Publishing, Dying Light 2 is an action RPG that was released a few weeks ago. The latest installment takes place 22 years after the events of the original Dying Light.

It takes place in a fictional city in Europe called Villedor. However, since its release, players have complained about several issues such as the bugged ‘To kill or not to kill’ quest and ‘Leaving the mission area’ glitch causing many to get stuck in a death loop.

And as if these issues weren’t annoying enough, Dying Light 2 players are now saying (1,2,3,4,5) that the Don Quixote trophy or achievement is bugged.

Some say despite activating the 17 windmills spread throughout the map, they are not getting the trophy. Apart from Don Quixote, a bunch of users are reporting that other trophies are bugged as well.

Generic solutions such as restarting the game and verifying files do not help either. Here are some reports from Dying Light 2 players who are unable to collect the Don Quixote trophy.

DL2 has had buggy trophy/achievement unlocks since launch and they’ve been mentioned maybe once (which was probably around launch day) I was really hoping the latest patch would fix them but I haven’t heard or seen anything about a fix. Currently I have three trophies bugged on PS5: Don Quixote (Clear all windmills), Municipal Services (Assign all facilities), Ban Hammer (Clear all bandit camps).

The following achievements’ requirements were fulfilled while playing solo, connected to the internet, Steam was in Online mode, and never having installed any mods at any point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don Quixote, Find Anything Interesting?, Boot Licker, True Nightrunner

While Dying Light 2 developers (Techland) are yet to comment on the matter, we did come across a workaround that might help unlock the Don Quixote trophy along with other bugged trophies.

It involves backing up the save game to external storage, reinstalling the game, and importing the save.

From what I’ve read, we need to back up our save file to external storage, then delete the game and reinstall it, then import the save file back. I haven’t had the time to test it yet. I’ve done two playthrough and still didn’t get it unlocked.

We hope Techland takes a look at the matter and fixes the bugged trophies at the earliest. When they do, we will be updating this space so stay tuned.
