New World wealth transfers disabled to address item duplication exploit
Published by Amazon Games, New World is one of the most popular MMORPG to come out in September last year. It is set on a fictional island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean called Aeternum Island.
The game features no auto-targeting system and hence, one needs to have good aim to land skill shots. According to MMO Population, New World has more than 15.32 million players.
Having said that, the player count has significantly dropped in the last few months, thank to bugs and issues such as the weapon swap bug where abilities were queing after swapping weapons and the bugged Baetylus Headpiece quest.
And as it turns out, New World players are now saying (1,2,3,4,5) that they are unable to trade or transfer wealth because of an item duplication exploit that recently surfaced.
Some are even pissed since Amazon Games seems to be perma-banning a bunch of players who have exploited the glitch, with buyers getting the ban hammer as well.

As of today, multiple company members and many other people have been banned for the duplication exploit. I understand that some sort of punishment is required but handing out automated permanent bans for an average player who in the heat of the moment gathered a few duplicated Topaz potions for personal consumption (Someone without a single warning) should deserve a second chance, along with the many others. Repeat offenders fair enough.

While a bunch of players say the punishment is justified, others say it is not harsh enough.
Recently there were people exploiting the market (or inventory, idk) to duplicate items. Although the devs have already noticed this issue and have disabled ingame trading, I worry they would go easy on those exploiters, which is unacceptable. I understand that you want to keep as many players here as possible, but you should have zero tolerance for exploitations, especially when it comes to ingame coins and economy. Those guys took advantage of the bug and made huge amount of money in just a few minutes, putting them ONE OR TWO MONTHS ahead of other honest players who did not exploit. And what penalty will they get? Just 2 or 3 day long ban? (Source)
It is also interesting to note that this is not the first time New World players have been banned for using an exploit. The developers had perma-banned many for taking advantage of the gold dupe in November last year.
Fortunately, New World developers commented on the item duplication glitch and said that they have disabled all forms of wealth transfers in the meantime.

Rest assured, we will be updating this space once New World developers enable wealth transfers once again, so stay tuned.
