Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story from (February 25, 2022) follows:

Developed by Techland, Dying Light 2 came as an adventure game that challenges you to survive in a world plagued by zombies with an immersive first-person camera approach.

However, Dying Light 2 is also one of the most common names when it comes to bugs and issues. The initial launch of the game has been bumpy due to the many problems it presented (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Several of the glitches have been fixed through updates. But, Dying Light 2 players keep finding new bugs that negatively impact the experience.

Dying Light 2 ‘Profile changed’ error message

Currently there is a ‘Profile changed’ error message in Dying Light 2 that is taking players out of the campaign to the title screen (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

@smektalaTM I keep getting kicked out to the title screen every so often with this message appearing, haven’t changed profile at all and have lost mission progress multiple times because of it. Epic games version. I’ve verified file integrity, reinstalled and hasn’t helped.

Fortunately, the ‘Profile changed’ error in Dying Light 2 does not affect the integrity of the save file. However, it is still annoying that in the middle of the campaign you are suddenly kicked out of the game.

Profile in use has changed ???

The game is randomly deciding to return to title screen with this message: “You have been returned to the title screen because the profile in use has changed”

I’m playing SP and there’s only a single profile I’m using. Anyone knows how to fix this? It’s pretty annoying to be suddenly cut off from a playing session like this.

Playing from EGS btw.

When the error appears, you can return to the campaign through the continue option. Also, some suggest that it could happen in Active GRE Quarantines.

Profile changed randomly?

I’ve been getting a random problem where I am returned to the menu screen with an error mentioning something about the profile having been changed. It’s not a deal breaker since I can always Continue the game. That said, it’s really annoying when it happens in Active GRE Quarantines where I’ve been steadily moving towards the inhibitors and I’m kicked back to the nearest safe house on reload.

Techland was reportedly aware, but the error is still present after update

It’s worth pointing out that Techland was reportedly aware of the issue over a week ago, according to some players. The fix would arrive in a future update after that, but the update arrived (1.0.6) and the error persists.

There doesn’t seem to be an official statement from Techland about the ‘Profile changed’ error in Dying Light 2. We will update this story if new updates come out on the matter.

Update 1 (April 7, 2023)

07:35 am (IST): It appears that the issue has reappeared as some users have taken to Reddit to report that they are getting an error saying ‘Profile in use has changed’ and the game returns to the menu.

Luckily, reloading the game fixes the issue according to users.

Just happened to my friends. When they reloaded the game, the save was back. Really weird problem, wonder what causes it (Source)
