New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 04, 2022) follows:

The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, despite having impressive hardware, are plagued by numerous software bugs. While Google seems to be working on fixing these issues, new ones are still popping up.

That being said, Pixel 6 users are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that the voice-to-text feature is not working. Many say that voice-to-text listens to them but no text appears.

Users say that the only way to get it working once again is by restarting the phone altogether. Pixel 6 owners are seemingly frustrated since they are forced to send messages using the keyboard.

It is a really serious issue for people with disabilities who rely on voice-to-text to communicate with others. You can see below what some affected Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users have to say.

When the Assistant voice typing feature for the Pixel 6’s is working, I love it, but it is maddening that I can hit the button and the microphone indicator at the top of the screen appears but I never see text appear. There are some days where I have the issue at least once per day and can’t figure out how to fix it. Usually ends up working the next time I need it. I struggle to find anyone talking about this.

Holy hell I’m sick of voice to text not responding…I’ve had practically every pixel but I’m over restarting my phone just to get this shit working. Google is an American company so how the fuck do they not have people monitoring these forms? I’m sick of restarting my phone just to get this shit working…. Sorry for the profanity.

We want to remind you that this is not the first time device owners are having problems with the voice-to-text feature.

A couple of months ago, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users reported that Gboard voice messaging was duplicating text while others complained about the voice typing toggle being greyed out for them.

Unfortunately, Google is yet to clarify as to why the voice-to-text is not working properly on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. We hope the developers acknowledge the issue and fix it as soon as possible.

Nonetheless, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space when Google acknowledges the issue or releases a fix so make sure you stay tuned for more information.
