[Updated] Dying Light 2 Grappling hook & Paraglider upgrade bug (stuck on level 1) troubles players

The list of bugs and issues Dying Light 2 players are encountering since its release continues to grow. Many of the problems in the game have been extensively covered here (1, 2, 3, 4).

The most recent reports indicate that there is a glitch that prevents the upgrade of some Dying Light 2 items. More specifically, the bug affects the Grappling hook and the Paraglider.

When you get to the the Dying Light 2 campaign section where you can upgrade the Grappling hook, the item’s level gets stuck at 1 (out of 3), according to reports (1, 2, 3).

Grappling hook bugged

Hi guys I recently joined a buddy who I guess was further on than me and got the grappling hook blueprint upgrade so I decided to upgrade it to max. Now I’ve done the story and got to the point where you get the grappling hook but it still say 1 out of 3 upgrades. But there is no upgrades at the craft master. Has anyone else had this issue/bug?

Some players suggest a possible ‘trigger’ for the glitch. Apparently it could happen if you haven’t unlocked the grappling hook in your campaign yet and you join a world where the item is available.

Grappling Hook: WARNING

This is likely a bug that I encountered. There are no options at Craftmasters to upgrade my grappling hook. I believe this is caused by joining a world that has unlocked a grappling hook and upgrading your grappling hook to the max before you unlock it in your story. Hope this helps.

The Paraglider allows you to jump from a certain height to glide taking advantage of the wind. However, the item is reportedly having the same issue as the Grappling hook.

Some Dying Light 2 players are unable to upgrade the Paraglider as the item gets stuck at level 1. In some cases the item can be upgraded to level 2 but its stats will not change.

Paraglider not able to be upgraded, please fix soon.

My friend and I both received the UV light, grappling hook and the paraglider early in the game on his save after doing a side quest, it started teleporting us around and gave my friend two bugged side quests and a bunch of max level loot. I’m now at point on my save where I was given the paraglider and I go to the craft master and the upgrade blueprint is not there. On ps5 if that matters.

There doesn’t seem to be an official acknowledgment from Techland about both issues. We will update this story as events develop.

07:00 pm (IST): Dying Light 2 players (PC) can now level up the Grappling hook and Paraglider without problems after the new update 1.2 patch. The update will take a little longer on consoles.

05:43 pm (IST): The latest patch which was earlier released for PC players is now available on PlayStation and Xbox. This patch carries a fix for the Grappling hook & Paraglider upgrade issue.
