Original story (published on February 07, 2022) follows:

Dying Light 2 is one of the most interesting first-person survival horror games available. Its players have also found some aspects to improve (1, 2, 3) since its release a few days ago.

A new bug in the game’s campaign is causing some players to get stuck. The bug in question impacts progress in the ‘Houndfield electrical station’ area.

To complete the Houndfield electrical station, players must make some wire connections to restore power to the area. In the process, they must access an elevator to continue progressing.

However, the elevator is not working properly for some players, which prevents them from completing the rest of the substation (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

Dying Light 2 elevator stuck on Houndfield electrical station

Dying Light 2 players affected by the ‘stuck elevator’ bug at the Houndfield electrical station prevents them from progressing further in the story. It also forces them to restart the game when it happens.

It seems that the problem mainly appears if the player character dies in the section where they have to take the elevator. The character will respawn in an area that prevents further progress in the mission.

Houndfield Electrical Station Glich

Hello as the title says the Houndfield Electrical Station is currently gliched for me in which I connected all the cables inside the substation but I accidentaly died and when I respawned I went back to find all the doors that lead to the part where I needed to activate the substation closed.

If you die after taking the elevator in Houndfield Electrical Station the gate closes and locks and you can no longer take the elevator. Unable to complete the station at that point.

The bug can also happen if the player reaches the Houndfield electrical station elevator area, saves the game, exits and loads the game. This will also cause the character to get stuck with no way out.

Game breaking glitch

I was doing houndfield electrical station I did everything but it wouldn’t let me switch on the power in the control room so I quit out of the game and loaded back in but it saved as i entered the control room but I wasn’t in the room when I loaded back in and I cannot get back in because I can’t call the elevator or unplug the wires and plug them back in.

A potential workaround to progress in the mission

Some players found a workaround that helps them continue to progress through the game without having to restart the game.

There is still no official acknowledgment from Techland about the stuck elevator glitch in Dying Light 2. We will update this article as events unfold.

Update 1 (February 09, 2022)

05:23 pm (IST): Dying Light 2 has recently received patch 1.05 update that includes various bug fixes. But unfortunately, it does not mention any fix for the elevator bug.

04:27 pm (IST): If this issue is still bothering you, then here’s a workaround suggested by one of the affected users. It worked for many and you can also give it a try.

Update 3 (February 11, 2022)

06:14 pm (IST): Dying Light 2 team will release a new patch with a bunch of bug fixes and improvements by the end of this week.

However, the changelog does not mention anything regarding the elevator issue, that means players will need to wait for a little longer to get it fixed.
