New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 5, 2022) follows:

Spotify is one of the most popular audio streaming services on Earth. With a library of more than 70 million songs, one can never run out of new music to tune in to.

That being said, since Spotify is available on almost every platform, the developers also have some bugs and issues to sort out. That being said, some users recently complained about their songs being greyed out on iOS devices.

While Spotify developers do resolve most of these issues fairly quickly, some issues like the one where the app freezes and crashes when clicking on the 3-dots menu is yet to be fixed.

Initially reported back in 2019 on Android 9, many subscribers complained about the app crashing whenever they tapped on the 3-dots menu.

Spotify had acknowledged the issue a few days later and said that they were working on it and that an app update should fix it.

So everytime I go into the menu to “share” my spotify app keeps crashing/closing down. It was working fine about 3 days ago. I generally just use the share option to copy the link to the song. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Reset my phone. Signed in and out of my account. Cleared cache/ devices from my spotify account and still nothing. Please help!! Its super frustrating.

Fast forward two years and fresh reports suggest that the issue still persists. We are wondering why Spotify developers are taking so long to fix such core functionality.

Hi Premium account, OnePlus Pro 8, Android 11, latest version of the Spotify app from the PlayStore.( 8.6.84.1240) App freezes when opening, I get the pop-up to close the app, wait till response or send feedback. Already re-installed the app, without succes. Is on going since yesterday (Saturday 4 december) Very annoying!

Once again, a Community shed some light on the matter and said that Spotify developers have worked on fixing the issue.

They are also asking for a video recording that shows the issue with the device make and model and the OS version.

Hey everyone, Thanks for posting here. Our teams have worked backstage on fixing the specific issue that this thread relates to-namely, the app crashing whenever the three dots menu is open. We can see from the recent posts that general app instability or crashing is reported. As each issue needs to be investigated on its own accord, we’d like to ask once more if anyone is still experiencing the app crashing specifically after trying to open the menu. If you do experience this, please share with us a short video recording of it, together with your device data(make/model of your device and exact OS version). Keep us posted.

If you are still facing app crashes when trying to open the Spotify 3-dots menu in playlists, make sure you share information in this thread.

Update 1 (January 12)

05:34 pm (IST): It looks like Spotify is still gathering more information on the crashing issue and asked users to post their device’ info with the model number and OS version and a video recording of the issue.
