Original story (published on December 14, 2021) follows:

Spotify is undoubtedly one of the most popular audio streaming services in the world. With millions of users worldwide, Spotify features more than 70 million songs.

Similar to other audio streaming services, Spotify has its fair share of bugs and glitches that sometimes makes it impossible for subscribers to listen to their favorite music.

Moreover, since it operates in more than 180 countries, the company has to factor in some licensing restrictions that lead to some songs being unavailable in specified regions.

Talking of licensing, many Spotify subscribers on iOS are now reporting that they are unable to listen to their music collection since it is now greyed out. Spotify usually greys out when it is not available in certain regions.

People are confused and wondering why their favorite music on Spotify has suddenly greyed out. Some are also saying that they are facing trouble logging in to their account.

A lot of songs have been greyed out on my Spotify playlists which I have only just discovered. I went on to my “Discover Weekly” and the whole playlist was greyed out, but when I pressed play, it started to play the greyed out songs, but I could not select them individually to play. I was also able to search for a song that was greyed out in one of my playlists and played it from search. Can someone explain whats happening here?

I copied a playlist with well over 1000 songs onto a new account. Initially all the songs were there with no trouble. i deleted the old playlist. However I have just now noticed (months later) that there are now only 300 songs in this playlist, there used to be nearly 2000. They have all spontaneously vanished. When I go into the playlist history theres a giant gap of missing songs in the middle of it, with what would be over 1000 songs gone without a trace. What do I do and why has this happened? I have stored songs for nearly a decade on Spotify and have now suddenly lost nearly all of them.

In addition to Spotify songs being greyed out, it looks like many are unable to see any of their friend activity, rendering the feature useless.

It stopped working a few weeks ago. Now it just shows a screen where it says “Let friends and followers on Spotify see what you’re listening to.” My setting is on for allowing friends to see what I’m listening to and my friends have it on as well. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling spotify, restarting my laptop, logging in and out several times in a row to try to force a sync but nothing is working.

Just a disclaimer, I’ve scanned forums, the wiki, and multiple sites for a possible solution before posting here. My friend activity seems to be bugged right after the Spotify wrapped came out. I have about 6 friends on there who are constantly playing music, but suddenly only 1 of them appears daily on the friend activity panel. I’ve tried restarting, logging out, and updating my Spotify but none of them seem to work – any help would be appreciated.
