New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 27, 2022) follows:

Since its release in mid-September, iOS 16 has been a huge success.

Apple has added Matter support to the newest version of iOS 16. This implies that users can use their iPhones to control smart devices such as Alexa and Google Assistant.

However, the update has been plagued by a number of bugs and issues like Tap-to-Wake being slow or laggy and screen or animation stuttering when swiping up.

Apple iOS 16.1 update triggered a Wi-Fi stability issue

Lately, many iPhone users have been unable to hide their frustration regarding the poor Wi-Fi connectivity on their devices after the latest iOS 16.1 update (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Apple released iOS 16.1 update on October 24 that came with various bug fixes for previous issues like CarPlay not connecting when using a VPN app.

So naturally, most people updated their iPhones to iOS 16.1. However, several users have reported problems with Wi-Fi stability since then.

Those affected claim that their handsets regularly connect and disconnect from a Wi-Fi network. This creates an unreliable internet connection, forcing users to switch to a cellular network in order to maintain a steady connection.

After updating iOS on my iPhone 11, the wifi did not work stably. every minute it disconnects itself from my home wifi, and after a few seconds it connects back. Can you help me with my problem because I can not fully use the phone. Thanks

Some troubleshooting methods like restarting the modem, resetting network settings, and trying different Wi-Fi networks don’t seem to fix the issue.

Unfortunately, Apple is yet to comment on the Wi-Fi stability issue after iOS 16.1 update at this moment in time. So, it’s unclear when a patch that addresses this issue will be released.

Although the recent iOS 16.1 update resolved many existing bugs, Wi-Fi not working on an iPhone is a huge issue in today’s world. We are hopeful that a fix will be released soon.

Update: I restarted my phone again just to check, and the problem seems to have resolved itself. Not sure how considering there hasn’t been a patch. I’m not complaining (Source)

Update 2 (January 11, 2023)

01:25 pm (IST): According to a recent report, issues related to Wi-Fi stability persist with the iOS 16.2 update.

My wifi has definitely been wonky under 16.2. It randomly disconnects especially when under load. This has been one of the worst iOS updates in a long time.

Updated yesterday then video started lagging. Speed test showed 0.25 Mbs down and 20 Mbs up. Forgot network, reconnected and speeds are 300/20 again. Has happened twice now in 24 hours. Not pleased.
