New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 15, 2021) follows:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has recently been 10 years old since its original release. The game has remained current to this day thanks to a lot of new content and new editions.

A few days ago, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim started receiving the 1.22 patch. This one brought a lot of fixes. But, it also reportedly brought some performance issues.

According to multiple reports, after 1.22 patch, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is suffering from crashing, freezing in main menu and is not loading for many players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim crashing and freezing after 1.22 update

Players of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim report various game performance issues after its most recent update. For some, the game gets stuck in the main menu and can’t load (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Exact same thing happened to me. Was playing it for a while and enjoying the game, progressing and exploring etc. Had the update and since then i’ve been able to go no further than the main menu. I did load in once after waiting about 5 minutes for the game to come to its senses. Uninstalled and reinstalled game today but sadly things were the same. Quite sad as i wanted to finish a few quests and find a bow. Source

Other players suffer from freezing on the loading screen too, and even ingame. Meanwhile, some players also suffer from game crashing.

My game has been freezing on the loading screen a lot the last couple days and it freezes like how it used to crash while in game. I mean I have a bunch on mods but my game ran as well as any Bethesda game up until the other day. A little fortunate and unfortunate to know it’s not just me I guess.
