Apple’s HomePod is the rival to the likes of Google Home Mini and Amazon’s Echo lineup. Even though the size of the device is pretty small, reviewers have praised the speakers for their sound quality.

The device also allows users to listen to their favorite music and make voice-based search queries using Siri. However, HomePod owners have reported several issues with the Siri compatible smart speaker such as a recent issue that caused Siri to forget where the user lives when asked about the weather.

The Cupertino-based tech giant frequently releases software updates aimed at fixing existing issues. Unsurprisingly, Apple recently updated the HomePod to Software version 15.2 with voice recognition support for up to six users.

But recent reports from HomePod owners suggest that Siri commands are still slow, with Siri responding ‘That’s taking a bit too long’, ‘One sec..’, ‘On it, still working, something is taking too long here…’ etc.

This is really frustrating if you are using the HomePod to control other smart devices or want to know the time or weather. Many said they tried resetting their devices with some even deleting their entire home but to no avail.

All my 6 HomePod minis are completely useless this times as almost every single HomeKit request like setting a scene or turning on/off a lamp is resulting in a delay of 5-10 seconds and Siri saying something like „this is taking too long…“ „one second“ „still working on that“ „your lamps seem to respond slower than usual“ and so on… It seems that many of us are having these issues and it started all over since audioOS 15. Apple still didn’t fix it with OS 15.2 and it’s just a shame. Every Google Home/Nest speaker is faster.

Hi there, so after I swapped both HomePods because of the popping issue. They both still pop so thats a software thingy. Yesterday I went to bed saying Goodnight to Siri. She turned everything off and everything was fine. Wanted to set a timer and that’s when it started. Siri is responding “I’m on it” and finally timing out. Also for turning up or down the volume. It’s still playing music with AirPlay and just downloaded the new firmare. So WIFI is working fine and quick. Siri just isn’t working. It’s also not the update, since it was happening with the previous version as well. Do any of you have a similar issue or have any tricks in your pocket?

As it turns out, HomePod users had complained that Siri commands were slow when iOS 15 was released. But it looks like Apple did not pay any attention to the issue and as a result, it still remains unaddressed in iOS 15.2

We hope Apple fixes the slow Siri commands issue on HomePods as soon as possible. When they do, we will let you know so make sure you keep checking for updates.
