Over the past few weeks, Battlefield 2042 players have been facing a host of bugs and glitches that require fixing as soon as possible for an optimal gaming experience.

Recently, new reports started to surface about another curious glitch in the game. For many players, restarting it brings a reset of all settings.

That is, when a Battlefield 2042 player closes it and re-runs it, their settings revert to the standard ones, and the new user tutorial appears again (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

Battlefield 2042 settings resets and tutorial appears again after a restart

According to multiple reports, the settings established in Battlefield 2042 are reset for some players under the aforementioned condition. However, their progress during the game is maintained.

Anyone else have their settings completely reset?

Title says it. I just logged on this morning and I was prompted through the entire intro sequence as if I just opened the game for the first time. Skipped the tutorial game to go to the menu and I still have all my progress but all of my settings were reverted to default.

Although the progress is not cleared, Battlefield 2042 opens the tutorial intended for new players. Fortunately, the game offers the option to skip it.

game keeps resetting all settings/first time setup (PC)

So I play as normal, then quit. Then when I boot the game again, it’s the “first time setup”, all of my settings are reset, keybinds reset, I must agree to terms again, then its an unskippable tutorial. It worked fine about 2 hours ago, now everything is reset. I did nothing. 2nd time this has happened in the last week.

Anyone have this issue? or know why?

Anyway, the player is forced to change all the game settings to their liking, which becomes very annoying if it happens every time they enter and exit Battlefield 2042.

Developers are aware, there is a preventive workaround

One of the game’s developers confirmed that they are already aware of the bug. According to the answer, it is suspected that it happens when the game crashes.

We’ve been investigating the issue and this seems to happen after the game crashes. We’re working on a fix for this.

So it appears that Battlefield 2042 is interpreting exiting the game as a crash. Anyway, there is a workaround that helps mitigate the problem, but this one is preventive.

The foregoing means that the workaround must be applied before the bug occurs, or after it has occurred and the player’s desired settings have been re-established.

Basically, it is recommended to make a backup of the Battlefield 2042 Settings folder. That way, it can be restored if the bug occurs.
