Apple Music is undoubtedly one of the best music streaming services available right now. With a vast collection of more than 75 million songs, Apple recently introduced new features that were welcomed by everyone.

Some features Apple added to their music streaming service are lossless audio and spatial audio with support for Dolby Atmos.

However, not everything went smoothly. Recently, many Apple Music subscribers reported that they were unable to download or play songs to their library with others complaining that the app was taking too much space on devices running macOS and iOS 15.

Now, many say that they are having issues with Apple Music 5.1 surround sound issue with Dolby Atmos/Audio tracks even after updating to tvOS 15.1. The Dolby Atmos (Spatial Audio) bug was first reported when tvOS 15.0 came out.

Users said that their Apple TV was playing sound only out of the left speaker and subwoofer, which is really weird. This is really a serious issue since Apple Music is unusable for those affected.

During the iOS 15 betas, I had Apple Music Atmos on my ATV HD outputting as 5.1. I can’t get it to work now, and it seems like perhaps that was a bug in the beta. Does anyone else have Atmos tracks able to play in their ATV HD?

There seems to be an issue with the Apple TV for songs on Apple Music that are in Dolby Audio and not Dolby Atmos (basically standard 5.1), in which everything plays out of the left speaker only. The bug doesn’t seem to be there on iOS or computers.

Some users did find temporary workarounds but say that the issue comes back after some time.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t acknowledged the issue to date. But the tvOS 15.1 update has disappointed those who were waiting for a solution.

I was hoping that tvOS 15.1 would fix this issue but no, the bug remains.

I can also confirm both the momentary hope and disappointment that tvOS 15.1 did not resolve the issue.
