[Update: June 7] Xiaomi MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update bugs, problems, & issues tracker: Here's the current status

Even the tiniest of apps are no stranger to bugs and issues that may arise due to changes to the app itself or to the platform they run on. And MIUI is a full-fledged OS, so making it completely bug-free is a near-impossible feat.

Historically, with every major update, Xiaomi’s Android skin has seen the introduction of new issues as well. We have tracked these on our dedicated bug trackers for MIUI 12, Xiaomi Android 11, and MIUI 12.5.

However, MIUI 12 was a particularly bad update when it came to the number of issues and performance woes plaguing it. Things took a turn for the worse when it was merged with the Android 11 code.

After a period of obsessing over feature additions, Xiaomi finally opened its eyes and promised to prioritize optimization over everything else with upcoming updates.

MIUI 12.5 was a product of this initiative and was claimed to improve performance and efficiency by reducing CPU usage by 22% and prioritizing gesture rendering.

However, the update is now being run by most of the eligible devices, which although have seen notable improvements in stability, continue to face lags and other problems.

Xiaomi thus decided to up the optimization game and has now announced “MIUI 12.5 Enhaced Edition” with the sole purpose of making your device run better than ever before. It delivers no new features.

The changelog for the update includes several under-the-hood improvements such as smart algorithms to dynamically allocate system resources, RAM optimization, and core system improvements:

1. Swift performance: More life between charges.

2. Focused algorithms: Our new algorithms will dynamically allocate system resources based on specific scenes, ensuring a smooth experience on all models.

3. Atomized memory: Ultra-fine memory management mechanism will make RAM usage more efficient.

4. Liquid storage: New sensitive storage mechanisms will keep your system vibrant and responsive as time goes by.

5. Smart balance: Core system improvements allow your device to make the best of the flagship hardware specs.

MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition will be released on August 13 in China and will be delivered to Xiaomi’s premium devices. These have been listed below.

There hasn’t been any indication of a global release yet but we would probably be seeing it soon anyway. There’s also no evidence currently about devices other than the ones given above being eligible for the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update.

Nonetheless, judging from past patterns, it is likely that new bugs and issues will be reported as the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update rolls out to device variants outside of China.

We will keep track of such bugs and issues reported by MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition users and update this article regularly to reflect them, so stay tuned.

03:57 pm (IST): The MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update for the Xiaomi Mi 11X/Poco F3 was just released and multiple reports suggest it causes random reboots. For further details and possible workarounds, head here.

06:29 pm (IST): A few Mi 11X/Poco F3 users have reported that they’re continuing to face green tint and black crush display issues even with the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update.

Due to this, more and more peeps are beginning to think that the problems are in fact hardware-related. After all, it was promised earlier that a future update will be fixing the problems.

06:37 pm (IST): Some Xiaomi Mi 11X users have also complained about heating and slow charging issues following the MIUI 12.5.3 Enhanced Edition update.

While we are yet to come across an official acknowledgment, we suggest disabling Memory expansion as it can sometimes get heavy on the resources.

04:05 pm (IST): Poco has halted the rollout of the MIUI 12.5 update for the Poco F3 due to the random reboot bug. A repaired version will be released on September 15. More details here.

04:58 pm (IST): A Poco mod has revealed that the cause for the Poco F3, aka Mi 11x, randomly rebooting after the MIUI 12.5 EE update is mainly due to the device overheating. This had been suspected earlier too. Head here for more info.

12:36 pm (IST): Mi 11X users are getting a new software update as version 12.5.4.0 in India. While the changelog does mention that the update fixes a few issues, there’s no word on a fix for the random reboot bug. More on this here.

05:23 pm (IST): Poco F3 users who’re eagerly waiting for the fixed MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update to arrive on their units will be pleased to know that the update has begun hitting random units as an OTA package.

This new update bears the software version V12.5.4.0 RKHMIXM and is live for global models of the device. Installing the update should fix the random rebooting issue that was introduced via the initial MIUI 12.5 EE build for the device.

01:20 pm (IST): Poco has published its latest edition of known bugs and issues and it addresses a few issues afflicting its devices running MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition.

1. Issue: Random Reboot.
Affected Device: POCO F3
Affected Version: V12.5.3.0.RKHMIXM.
Status: The version that repaired the restart caused by the Thermal Patch has been released, and the problem is solved‌‌.

2. Issue: Ghost Screen.
Affected Device: POCO X3 Pro.
Affected Version: V12.0.3.0.RJUIDXM, V12.5.1.0.RJUIDXM, V12.5.1.1.RJUIDXM, V12.5.2.0.RJUIDXM.
Status: Around 9/22, the second Indonesian version with optimization will be pushed, and will continue to return to visit users to understand the improvement effect and restore the scene.‌‌

05:29 pm (IST): The MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition bug tracker for the Mi 10 fixes the fingerprint unlock animation bug which caused the animation to display even after the device was unlocked as well as resulted in the device crashing according to the update log.

03:23 pm (IST): Several Redmi Note 10 Pro users running MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition are reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) that the front camera has stopped working.

Moreover, some Poco X2 users are also reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) the same issue where it shows ‘Can’t connect to camera’ error when using the front camera. Users say that this is happening after upgrading to MIUI 12.5.6.0.

04:38 pm (IST): Xiaomi is investigating an issue on Redmi 9 where many apps force close without any response. This is happening on devices running software version V12.5.6.0.RJCMXAT.

Also, they have acknowledged the issue with Redmi Note 10 5G running MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition where the device reboots and enters into recovery mode.
