The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 may be the most affordable offering from the Redmi Note 9 series but still packs quite a punch.

With its sufficiently large 5020mAh battery, 48MP camera, and 6.53 FHD display, you won’t be missing out much compared to its Pro variant.

The device is sold as the Xiaomi Redmi 10X 4G in China and came with the latest MIUI and Android version at the time of its release – MIUI 12 based on Android 10.

Both the variants have since been updated to Android 11 with the Chinese Redmi 10X 4G receiving it back in February followed by the Global Redmi Note 9 months later in May.

But software development is an unending, iterative process and Android 11-based MIUI 12 has already been superseded by the latest MIUI 12.5 upgrade.

Of course, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 is a fairly recent release which is why it obviously is eligible for MIUI 12.5.

And now, its Chinese variant – the Redmi 10X 4G – has indeed bagged MIUI 12.5. The update brings along a slew of features that you can check from the changelog below, underneath which you will also find the download link.

With this, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9/Redmi 10X 4G has beaten its Pro variants to the MIUI 12.5 update.

Do keep in mind that the above build will not be installable for the Redmi Note 9 since it’s a China build, unless you have an unlocked bootloader.

And we certainly don’t recommend unlocking the bootloader just for this update considering that now that its Chinese variant has bagged MIUI 12.5, the global Redmi Note 9 shouldn’t take much longer either.

For now, stay tuned to our dedicated MIUI 12.5 update tracker.
