[Update: Restored] Philips Hue app taken off Google Play Store allegedly due to customer backlash after recent update

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on June 17, 2021) follows:

Philips Hue is a lineup of color-changing LEDs and white smart bulbs which can be controlled wirelessly using the Philips Hue app.

Recently Philips Hue updated their app after a long time and did a full revamp of it from the bottom up, changing things significantly.

But instead of improving the user experience as Philips Hue claimed, the new app did the opposite with users finding it a slow performer and missing some features that the old app had.

The removal of widgets from the Android app in particular didn’t sit well with the Hue users. We covered the whole fiasco here.

After the update, the Philips Hue app started getting a lot of negative reviews on Google Play Store with its rating dropping significantly.

And now after the backlash and drop in ratings, the Philips Hue app has been removed from the Google Play Store.

Earlier today after a number of users reported that the Philips Hue app had been removed from the Google Play Store, Philips Hue replied that they are aware of the issue and are working on getting it fixed as soon as possible.
