New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on May 28, 2021) follows:

Following a slew of complaints regarding performance issues and bugs on Android 11-based MIUI 12, Xiaomi was forced to issue an apology saying that they’ll be prioritizing optimization with MIUI 12.5.

While the OEM still doesn’t seem to be done with feature additions on their MIUI 12.5 beta channel, there’s now evidence to prove that they’re keen on rolling out bug-fixes along with new features parallelly.

No piece of software is perfect and betas are even more not so. There have been quite a few bugs and issues on the past few builds and thankfully, many of them are set to get resolved with upcoming MIUI 12.5 beta updates.

The bugs in question have all entered the ‘development version’. This means that fixes for them will probably roll out in the coming days:

1. Fix the issue that the screen goes black for a short while when unlocking, and then enters the desktop.
Adapted models: Redmi K30 Pro, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 10.
2. Fix the problem that the knuckle tapping on the screenshot fails after turning off the game acceleration.
3. Fix the problem of abnormal flashing when downloading progress bar notification.

4. Fix the problem that the virus scan animation is not centered (some models).
5. Fix the problem of flashing screen when copying the verification code.
6. Fix the problem that the input method cannot be called up in the pop-up window of WLAN connection.

And as you wait for the aforementioned issues to get addressed, a couple of new updates have already gone live with some interesting new features:

The recent updates have brought along a significant new feature to the Game Turbo app. You can now tweak the GPU Settings based on various performance presets to squeeze as much power as possible out of the GPU.

This feature was already available on Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 888 devices but has now hit Snapdragon 865 devices as well. Hopefully, in time, it will be widely rolled out for all devices.

Another feature addition worth a mention is the new Live in-ear monitor that transmits your phone’s mic feed to connected Bluetooth headphones.

This is akin to the ‘transparent mode’ on the AirPods Pro and should be useful for headsets with powerful noise cancellation.

The official changelog for the MIUI 12.5 beta 21.5.26 and 21.5.27 updates has been given below:

[System]
Fix the problem that the WLAN connection pop-up window cannot be called up the input method
Fix the problem of black screen in background when WiFi input password
Adaptation model: Redmi K20

If you haven’t already spotted it, the bug fixes mentioned in the changelog are already a part of the list given above. We should be seeing similar bug-fixing updates roll out in the coming weeks.
