New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on March 30, 2021) follows:

The Mi 11 is Xiaomi’s latest flagship and is perhaps one of the compelling top-of-the-range buys in 2021 owing to an impressive spec sheet at an extremely reasonable price.

The device was launched on January 1 in China where it sold like hotcakes. And being launched at that date meant that it would come with MIUI 12 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box, just like any other recent launches.

Therefore, the wait has been on for MIUI 12.5 ever since. The update is said to be an intermediary between MIUI 12 and MIUI 13 and brings about a bunch of performance enhancements and new features.

Anyway, Xiaomi had promised in their MIUI 12.5 global debut that the Mi 11 is set to be one of the very first devices to bag MIUI 12.5 stable update. The date given out for this was Q2 2021.

By this, most would automatically assume that the update would release in early April. However, Xiaomi has surprised its users by releasing MIUI 12.5 stable for Mi 10 Ultra yesterday itself.

Yep, the Mi 10 Ultra maybe an older flagship but has beaten Mi 11 to the MIUI 12.5 update. But the gap between them is negligible as the Mi 11 has now bagged MIUI 12.5 in a stable beta form.

The entirety of the update ZIP file carries a size of 4.1 GB and also finally updates the Mi 11 to the latest March security patch.

Do keep in mind though that this update has currently only been released in China, that too as a stable beta. This means that the update is still in its final testing stages and is being rolled out for select users.

But if all goes well, the MIUI 12.5 update should make it to global users pretty soon as well. There is no ETA as of now but expect it in the coming weeks.

Nonetheless, the download link has been given below just as promised along with the complete official changelog:
