OnePlus has had a rough couple of months following the release of OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) for the OnePlus 8 series of devices. The company has been working to fix bugs and issues since.

In the same breath, the company hasn’t faired as well as we’d all hoped with regards to OxygenOS 11 for the other eligible devices and you can check out our dedicated tracker here for more.

In the recent past, we’ve looked at a few too many bugs and issues faced by users of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T series of devices, issues such as auto-focus fails on close-up subjects, duplicate images in Gallery and the Gallery crashing when deleting albums, among others.

Like a fire that is proving impossible to completely extinguish, a section of OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T users on OxygenOS 11 are reporting an issue with their devices’ cameras.

According to affected users, the devices’ cameras exhibit unusual behavior in some low-light shooting conditions as the resulting photos have weird artifacts.

This issue has since been reported by users of the OnePlus 8 Pro and the OnePlus 8T while shooting with 12MP in normal mode at night, while using Nightscape mode among other shooting modes.

I had gone around for a night time walk. Some of the pictures happened to look like this..Couldn’t understand why. Is there a possible fix?
It’s not that all of them ended up but at least more than 50% of the night time ones ended up like these, Here are some. Is there at least a possible explanation for what happened to cause this? If I could at least avoid having this issue again.I got to know the pictures ended up like this once I returned home, so there’s no way for me to go back.

Does this mean that users of these affected devices will be seeing a camera fix update soon? Well, we certainly hope so, especially after seeing the samples shared by affected users.

OnePlus is dropping the ball a little more than we’d usually expect from a company that’s primarily built around the tech enthusiast. We hope to see fewer issues on OnePlus devices moving forward.
