[Updated] Asus ROG Phone 3 new update enables VoLTE & VoWiFi in multiple markets; Twin App for WhatsApp contact issue confimed

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on September 1, 2020) follows:

Asus ROG Phone 3 is a powerful game-ready smartphone which offers Android 10 out-of-the-box. It was released back in July and the first update brought multiple bugfixes along with AirTrigger for gameplay, three-finger screenshot, and Outdoor mode features.

Another update started rolling out to the ROG Phone 3 earlier in August which enabled VoLTE on CTM in Macao and offered fixes for screen black shadow among other things. Also, users of the ROG Phone 3 have been experiencing the black crush and broken refresh rate issues.

However, a ZenTalk moderator later stated that the issues are being looked into but it could take weeks to fix them. Now, a new update is rolling out to the ROG Phone 3 which brings a bunch of fixes along with the VoWiFi/VoLTE support.

The update enables VoLTE/VoWiFi functionality on the Telia ROG Phone 3 in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Apart from this, the update adds ROG Connect community and support for portrait mode in Armoury Crate.

Moreover, there are fixes for Netflix app and System brightness function conflict, issue where the phone is unable to detect the ROG Strix Arion SSD via the bottom USB port, and battery page total power consumption items and status bar actual power display difference.

Those on the Global ROG Phone 3 variant can now grab the update as it is live over the air. Here are the release notes for the update version 17.0823.2007.58:

[Release Note]
– Armoury Crate now also supports portrait mode. Added ROG Connect community.
– Enabled Telia VoLTE/VoWiFi in Norway, Sweden and Finland
– Fixed the conflict between Netflix app and System brightness function
– Fixed not able to detect ROG Strix Arion SSD issue from buttom USB port
– Fixed a large difference between the total power consumption items under the battery page and the actual power display in the status bar.

However, another bug seems to be affecting ROG Phone 3 users where saved contacts are not getting synced with the WhatsApp Twin app. A ZenTalk moderator has addressed this issue stating that they are looking into it.

Thank you for the feedback.

We are looking into the same.

Also, while users have mentioned that there is some improvement in terms of the black crush issue after the latest update, some are still facing it. For this, the moderator has stated that they are still fine-tuning the screen and it will be improved further. Here’s the actual comment:

The adjustments made in .58 was locked in a while back in order to get it in into the already planned .58 update. We’ve continued to tune the screen since and we’re still tuning. It will improve further.

That said, we hope Asus looks into the existing ROG Phone 3 issues and soon provides fixes for them. Meanwhile, we have more such stories in our dedicated Asus section so be sure to check it out.
