One of the highlighting features of stock Android 11 was the revamped power menu. The new power menu now offers several Google Home controls so that one can easily access their smart home devices.

This is done using the new Device Controls API which allows developers to add home automation shortcuts in the Power Menu, among other things.

Such an addition is just great as it allows the phone to get more seamlessly integrated into a smart home setup than ever before.

I managed to add some other utilities through the “Power menu controls” app

Now, stock Android’s implementation may be pretty neat but it’s nowhere as great as what Xiaomi has in store.

The custom Android skin offered by the Chinese company has seen a plethora of new feature additions in the past couple of weeks itself like 90 FPS screen recording support, new video recording mode, and much more.

And if all that wasn’t enough, they have now implemented Android 11’s power menu controls but with a slight twist – the shortcuts have been placed in the control center itself rather than on the MIUI power menu.

MIUI power menu too recently got a revamp

This makes them far more accessible now as opening them up only requires a swipe down on the status bar. This is in contrast to stock Android where one has to hold down the power button to bring the menu up.

In case you are still using the old notification style and want the controls, you will have to enable the new control center from Settings > Display > Control center & Notification shade.

The new feature was only recently rolled out to select devices that have already received the Android 11 update like the Mi Note 10 Lite, Mi 9 (MIUI 12.5 beta), and the Mi 10 Ultra.

This is apparent from a recent post on Reddit that has highlighted the feature.

Duuude didn’t realise control centre had these features. I was so used to the old style so I kept it standard. Just trialled it on my 10 Ultra on the EU Rom and it’s there and works amazing!

Yes, on MIUI 12.5 too on Mi 9. You can choose your home center between Google Home and Mi Home.

Moreover, as you can see from the last comment above, MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 even allows an option to make a selection between Google Home and Mi Home shortcuts, which is pretty handy.

With time, these new features will eventually trickle down to other Xiaomi devices as well as the Android 11 party has only just started.
