MIUI 12.5 update: Here’re some key points you must know

Xiaomi has unveiled the MIUI 12.5 update at the Mi 11 series launch event and the new custom skin will bring a bunch of improvements.

MIUI 12.5 is slated to bring improvements to security and privacy along with new animations, Super Wallpapers, haptics, and much more.

The new MIUI version is said to be more efficient because it has been optimized to use 20% less memory than previous versions.

Its system operations are designed to reduce power consumption by 17% as these operations are also optimized to consume 32% less memory.

Also, the new set of Super Wallpapers on the MIUI 12.5 update will help to conserve energy by consuming 40% less power.

Apart from that, the MIUI Light Cone architecture plays a pivotal role in reducing overall memory usage and power consumption.

This dynamic effect architecture has been upgraded to provide comfortable yet efficient, and natural and smooth effects.

Moreover, the MIUI Light Cone architecture brings the Turbo gesture feature which responds smoothly and swiftly without causing any lag.

On top of this, the new MIUI Sound Design offers over 100 notifications and system sounds of creatures across the globe.

The MIUI natural touch brings new and convenient haptics which further improves the overall user experience. Also, the enhanced floating window feature makes multitasking way too simpler.

Privacy has also been greatly improved with the Clipboard privacy protection, approximate location, full Android sandbox mechanism, separate application read permissions settings and much more.

      Improved-privacy-and-security

While these are the key features and improvements that the MIUI 12.5 update will bring, there is so much more to the upcoming custom skin update than meets the eye.

Nevertheless, not all these changes will make their way to all eligible devices due to hardware limitations and other factors.

Animations like the Hourglass countdown will only be supported by the Mi 11, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Redmi K30 Pro. Also, the app download water animation will require devices running Android 10 along with the Snapdragon 855 or higher SoCs.

Clock countdown hourglass motion support models: Xiaomi Mi 11, Xiaomi Mi 10, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro; desktop download water fluctuation effect, application uninstall explosion motion support models need to be Android Q version and equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU and above

Similarly, the natural touch design is only supported by the Mi 9 Pro 5G, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 11, and Redmi K30S Ultra.

The Mi Health app’s heart rate monitoring function will not work with devices like the Redmi 6A, Mi CC9 Pro/Mi Note 10, Mi CC9 Meitu Edition, and Redmi 10X Pro.

Due to hardware limitations, only the following mobile phones support natural touch design: Mi 11, Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition, Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K30S Extreme Commemorative Edition, Mi 9 Pro 5G.

Xiaomi has scheduled the stable MIUI 12.5 update rollout for April 2021 in China. This means that the aforementioned details mostly concern the Chinese variants of the devices mentioned above.

It is unclear if and when all features will make their way to the global MIUI 12.5 ROMs as the OEM has not made any official announcements on the matter yet.

However, it is still good to see that Xiaomi is constantly evolving its in-house custom skin to better fulfill user requirements.

In MIUI 12.5, more useful functions are new to improve your efficiency.
