The OnePlus Nord is easily one of the best mid-range Android smartphones to buy. It has a lot going for it considering its price and is even future proof thanks to the 5G capabilities it brings over.

Moreover, OxygenOS has quickly become one of the best skins over Android according to many fans and tech enthusiasts alike.

Speaking of which, the OnePlus Nord is inline to receive the update to OxygenOS 11 as well. However, there’s no ETA for the Android 11-based update for the device yet. More on that here.

Nevertheless, as users wait for the upcoming Android version update, OnePlus rolls out regular security updates for the device in order to fix existing bugs or improve the stability.

The latest software update for the device — OxygenOS 10.5.9 — brought the October patch, fixed a few bugs, and added a few new features.

But it appears that the missing notifications issue when connected to Wi-Fi is still affecting the user experience of many OnePlus Nord users.

According to affected users, when their device is connected to Wi-Fi and their phone is idle, they do not receive any notifications from apps that require internet access.

Many OnePlus Nord users took to the company’s community forums to report the problem back in August. A OnePlus staff member did acknowledge the issue and claimed that a fix is in the works.

This acknowledgment came back in August too and thus one would have expected that OnePlus would have fixed the issue already. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case.

Some OnePlus Nord users are still claiming that even after installing the latest update, they are still not receiving notifications when their phone is idle and is connected to Wi-Fi.

As others, 10.5.9 today didn’t solve the issue. (Source)

Im also having same issue @2020-Nov-19. WhatsApp + Wifi unable to receive calls when its locked(sleep). (Source)

Same problem here, I’m not sure if it happens with all the app in background, but sure it happens with whatsapp; when the notification “whatsapp is checking for new messages” appear I always need to turn off and on the wifi to get notifications. Also tried to deactivate battery optimisation, changed router configuration, nothing seems to work. (Source)

As you can see, the problem persists even after installing OxygenOS 10.5.9. It’s unclear whether OnePlus has managed to pin-point the problem yet since the company has not shared any further details on the bug.

Most generic workarounds don’t appear to work, therefore, users will have to wait for OnePlus to release a fix for the problem.

Of course, this isn’t the only issue OnePlus Nord users are facing. We’ve covered a few other bugs and issues on the OnePlus Nord such as the SIM 2 network failure, IMEI number issue, and others.

We will continue to track the situation and will post an update once new details regarding the issue emerge. In the meantime, stay tuned to our dedicated tracker to know everything about the OxygenOS 11 update rollout.
