The curtains are almost closing on the MIUI 12 rollout as Xiaomi plans to have wrapped up everything by the end of October.

In line with that, we’ve seen a few devices (1,2) that have not received this update being slated for sometime between mid and end of this month.

A few devices that are still eligible for an update to MIUI 12 are still languishing out in the cold, the much-awaited update not in sight.

Some of these devices include the Redmi Note 7/7S, Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro, just to mention a few.

Recently, we’ve seen reports that suggested Xiaomi was pulling the plug on the Pilot testing program for the Redmi Note 7/7S in India. This could mean that this update should roll out anytime soon.

That is good news for sure. But where does that leave the Redmi Note 8? Well, today, we learn that MIUI 12 for the Redmi Note 8 could be well past its testing stages.

In an alleged conversation between a Redmi Note 8 user and Xiaomi Customer Support, the representative goes to confirm that the update might be pushed soon as 90 % of tests have been completed.

The representative goes on to suggest that we should see a stable build around the middle of this month, reports that corroborate previous communication that suggested the same.

Note that the rep says that the testing is 90% complete. In our coverage of the MIUI 12 for Redmi Note 7/7S, it is reported that the Mi Pilot program is ending for other devices too. Could Redmi Note 8 be among the other devices?

To recall, we’ve already seen the Redmi Note 8 bag the much-awaited update to MIUI 12, albeit in China.

The update has been undergoing testing for a while now and it might as well be ready for deployment soon.
