Original story (from May 26) follows:

Motorola took time off the flagship smartphone market perhaps to go back to the drawing board, eventually coming back this year with the Motorola Edge+.

By today’s standards, no one doubts that the Motorola Edge+ is a top-notch smartphone. But the appeal of the handset is only something a few can afford. As for the majority, the Moto G series does a pretty great job handling day-to-day tasks and then some.

The latest in the Moto G series is the Moto G8 family. Prior to that, the Moto G7 family was the go-to budget smartphones for most people in the west.

To make them even better, Motorola has been pushing Android 10 updates to the sets and the latest to join the party, at least according to Motorola Brazil, is the Moto G7 Play.

The OS has already been released to the Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, and Moto G7 Power. Invevitably, the Moto G7 Play Android 10 update was always going to be next. And now Moto Brazil says the OS started rolling out last week.

Not many can agree with Motorola Brazil that the Moto G7 Play Android 10 update is already out there. However, it is normal for OTA updates to take days or even weeks before hitting all target units.

It should take even much longer for Android 10 to arrive in markets outside Brazil, so better exercise some patience while at it. In case you are wondering, this will be the one and only OS upgrade for the G7 Play, but you can still check out our Motorola Android 11 update coverage.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
