The Xiaomi Redmi 8A came with Android 9 alongside MIUI 11 pre-installed and was in line to receive the Android 10 update since its release. This is because Xiaomi commits to at least one major Android OS update for its affordable devices from the Redmi range.

As expected, the Android 10 update for the Redmi 8A rolled out in China late last month. Following suit, the stable update was then released for the Global and European units of the device. However, the update didn’t make its way over to Indian Redmi 8A units, until now.

Further, the Redmi 8A is also in line to receive the MIUI 12 update and it’s yet to get Xiaomi’s latest skin over Android in any region. And well, this remains true since the stable Android 10 update for the Redmi 8A has finally begun rolling out to users in India and it comes with MIUI 11 on top.

The update comes as version 11.0.1.0.QCPINXM and is rolling out via an OTA package. Of course, like any other Android OS update on Xiaomi phones, this does not carry any major new features. Instead, the Chinese OEM prefers to bring a boatload of new features and improvements with its MIUI version updates.

That being said, apart from the update to Android 10, it also brings along the August 2020 security patch for the device. We’ve added the changelog that comes with the Android 10 update below:

Like we mentioned above, the update is rolling out to users via an OTA package. Thus, you might have to wait a while before it arrives on your device. But in case you aren’t willing to wait to get your hands on the Android 10 update, we’ve added the link to manually download it below:
